rubber

Eraser's stretchy stuff

Rubber is an elastic material that stretches and returns to shape, originally derived from tropical tree sap but now often synthetic.

It appears in countless products: tires, bands, gloves, erasers.

In British usage, a rubber is an eraser.

In American slang, a rubber is a condom.

To rubber is to gawk or stare: rubbernecking at an accident.

To rubber-stamp something is to approve it automatically, without real scrutiny.
