rubbing
Pressing and sliding
Rubbing is the action of pressing something against a surface and moving it back and forth, or the result of that action.
You might give someone a back rub, or notice the rubbing of your shoe against your heel.
A rubbing is also an image made by placing paper over a textured surface and rubbing with charcoal or pencil, as in a brass rubbing or gravestone rubbing.
The rubbing of the branches against the window kept me awake.
