racism
Discrimination by ethnicity
Racism is a belief that people of different ethnic origins have different characteristics that are superior or inferior in some respects to others.
Policies and programs that arise from such a belief can also be called racism: Institutional racism was challenged in Brown v. Board of Education.
More generally, racism means hatred of a race other than one’s own, along with the conviction that some races are inferior.
