eugenics

Human breeding science

Eugenics is the idea of improving human populations through selective breeding—encouraging reproduction among people deemed genetically "fit" while discouraging or preventing it among those deemed "unfit." The term now carries heavy stigma due to its association with forced sterilization programs and Nazi racial policies.

Eugenics was taught as legitimate science in American universities into the 1930s.
