biracial
Dual ethnic heritage
Biracial describes a person whose parents are of two different races: Her biracial heritage shaped her perspective on identity.
The term gained currency in the late twentieth century as a way for people of mixed ancestry to claim both sides rather than being assigned to one category.
Sometimes extended to describe couples or families with members of different races.
