antiracism
Active bias opposition
Antiracism is the active opposition to racism, going beyond passive non-racism to advocate for policies and practices that dismantle racial inequities.
Where racism can operate through indifference or inaction, antiracism requires deliberate effort to identify and challenge discriminatory systems.
The term gained wider currency in the 2010s and 2020s, particularly in discussions of institutional bias.
The organization adopted an antiracism framework for hiring practices.
Someone who practices antiracism is an antiracist.
