pile

Things heaped together

A pile is an unorganized mass of things in one place (pile of dirty dishes).

Pile may also designate a large amount, especially of money.

To pile things means to create a pile of them.

If people pile in to a place, they get in quickly.

If things pile up, they accumulate.

Other meanings of pile are a long column driven into the ground as a support; a surface of thick fur or threads (deep pile carpeting); and (usually plural) hemorrhoids.
