barrow

Ancient grave heap

A barrow is a flat rectangular frame with handles at each end for carrying loads—essentially a stretcher for objects rather than people.

A wheelbarrow adds a wheel at one end so one person can manage it.

Separately, a barrow is an ancient burial mound, a grass-covered hill concealing a tomb: The archaeologists excavated the Bronze Age barrow.
