slew
A whole bunch
Slew has two distinct origins.
One is the past tense of slay: He slew the dragon.
The other means a large quantity: a whole slew of problems, slews of paperwork.
This informal sense suggests an overwhelming or unmanageable number.
As a verb, to slew (or slue) means to turn or swing sideways: The car slewed across the icy road.
