imposition

Unfair burden placed

An imposition is something that burdens or inconveniences someone, often by taking advantage of their goodwill: I hate to be an imposition, but could you drive me to the airport?

The word also means the act of imposing—establishing something by authority (the imposition of tariffs) or placing something upon another (the imposition of hands in religious ceremony).
