help
Give a hand
Whether as a verb or a noun, help has many synonyms but it is the most general and the most frequent word we use for the act of or an instance of doing something that makes someone else’s life or work easier: Can you help me with this math problem? My nephews weren’t much help on moving day.
If you need help, you face a task that you do not feel able to do alone.
If you can’t help doing something, you can’t restrain or prevent yourself from doing it: I can’t help thinking that they turned down the invitation because they’re broke.
