geotagging
Coordinates embedded automatically
Geotagging is adding geographic coordinates to digital content—photos, videos, social media posts.
Most smartphones automatically geotag images with latitude and longitude from GPS data: The geotagging on her Instagram revealed she was in Paris.
The practice raises privacy concerns, since location data can expose where someone lives, works, or travels.
