UTM stands for Urchin Tracking Module, a system of parameters added to URLs to track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
The tags—including utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign—tell analytics software where traffic originated: The utm_source showed most clicks came from the newsletter.
UTM parameters appear in URLs as query strings after a question mark.
