tear duct

Eye's drainage tube

A tear duct is a small tube that drains tears from the eye into the nasal cavity.

Located at the inner corner of each eye, these ducts are part of the lacrimal system that keeps eyes lubricated and washes away debris.

When tear ducts become blocked, tears overflow onto the face instead of draining properly.

The baby was born with a blocked tear duct that cleared up on its own.
