balls

Cotillions and proms

Balls are round objects or formal dances in the plural.

In vulgar slang, balls means testicles and, by extension, courage: It takes balls to say that to his face.

Balls can also mean nonsense: That's balls and you know it.

Common expressions include bust your balls (work hard or mock mercilessly), balls to the wall (full throttle), and have the balls (have the courage): He didn't have the balls to ask for a raise.

To ball something up is to ruin it.
