squint

Eyes nearly shut

To squint is to partially close the eyes, either to see more clearly in bright light or to focus on something distant or small: She squinted at the tiny print.

A squint can also be a quick or furtive glance: He took a squint at the document.

In medical contexts, squint refers to a condition where the eyes don't align properly—one eye turns inward or outward while the other looks straight ahead.
