eyelid
Flap protecting vision
An eyelid is the fold of skin that covers and protects the eye when closed.
Humans have upper and lower eyelids, though the upper does most of the work in blinking and sleeping.
To not bat an eyelid is to show no reaction to something surprising or disturbing.
