Brave New World
Engineered happiness nightmare
Brave New World is Aldous Huxley's 1932 dystopian novel depicting a society engineered for stability through genetic manipulation, conditioning, and pleasure-inducing drugs.
The phrase now describes any technologically advanced but dehumanizing social order, or sarcastically greets unsettling change: Welcome to the brave new world of algorithmic hiring.
Huxley borrowed the phrase from Shakespeare's *The Tempest*.
