massacre
Brutal mass murder
A massacre is the violent killing of many people, typically those who are defenseless or unable to resist.
The word carries strong connotations of brutality and one-sidedness—a fair fight is never called a massacre.
Extended uses describe overwhelming defeats in sports or competition: The home team massacred the visitors 45 to 3.
As a verb, to massacre means to kill in large numbers indiscriminately, or informally, to defeat decisively or to botch something badly: She absolutely massacred that song.
