negative selection
Removing the unfit
Negative selection is a process that eliminates undesirable elements rather than choosing desirable ones.
In biology, it describes immune system mechanisms that destroy self-reactive cells, or evolutionary pressure that removes harmful mutations.
In organizational contexts, negative selection describes systems where competent people leave or are pushed out while the mediocre remain: Authoritarian regimes often suffer from negative selection as capable officials flee or are purged.
