phenotype
Outward genetic expression
A phenotype is the observable characteristics of an organism—its appearance, behavior, and physical traits—as distinct from its underlying genetic code (genotype).
The phenotype results from genes interacting with environment: identical twins share a genotype but may develop different phenotypes through different experiences.
The mutation produced a distinctive phenotype.
