racial hygiene

Discredited hereditary purification

Racial hygiene is a pseudoscientific term from the late 19th and early 20th centuries for eugenics programs aimed at "improving" human populations through selective breeding, sterilization, or elimination of those deemed unfit.

The term is most associated with Nazi Germany, where racial hygiene provided ideological cover for forced sterilizations and genocide.

Now used only historically or critically.
