ellipsoid
Three-dimensional oval
An ellipsoid is a three-dimensional shape resembling a stretched or compressed sphere—like a football, egg, or the Earth itself.
Mathematically, it's a surface where every cross-section is an ellipse or circle.
The term also works as an adjective describing this shape: The planet has an ellipsoid form, bulging slightly at the equator.
