dimensionality
Number of axes
Dimensionality refers to the number of dimensions something has or operates within.
In mathematics and physics, it describes how many independent coordinates are needed to specify a point in a space: a line has one dimension, a plane has two, and ordinary space has three.
The term extends to data analysis, where high-dimensionality means a dataset has many variables or features.
The dimensionality of the problem made visualization impossible.
Reducing dimensionality—simplifying complex data while preserving its essential structure—is a common task in machine learning and statistics.
