oblate
Wider than tall
Oblate describes a spheroid flattened at the poles—wider at the equator than tall, like Earth or a tangerine.
The opposite is prolate, elongated like a rugby ball.
Separately, an oblate is a person dedicated to religious life, particularly someone offered to a monastery as a child or an adult layperson affiliated with a religious community.
