centroid
Geometric balance point
Centroid is a geometry term for the center of mass of a shape—the point where it would balance perfectly if cut from uniform material.
For a triangle, it's where the three medians intersect; for irregular shapes, it requires calculus or computational methods to find.
The concept extends beyond pure geometry into statistics and data science, where centroid refers to the average position of a cluster of points.
The algorithm assigns each data point to its nearest centroid.
