Self-sacrificing irregular combatants
Fedayeen are Arab guerrilla fighters or commandos, particularly those engaged in military operations against Israel or other perceived enemies.
The term comes from Arabic meaning "those who sacrifice themselves." It has been applied to various militant groups across the Middle East: Palestinian fighters, Iranian revolutionaries, and Saddam Hussein's paramilitary forces.
