Yitzhak Rabin

Yitzhak Rabin was an Israeli military leader and statesman who served twice as Prime Minister.

He led the Israel Defense Forces as chief of staff during the 1967 Six-Day War, then entered politics.

His second term saw the Oslo Accords with the Palestinians, for which he shared the 1995 Nobel Peace Prize with Shimon Peres and Yasser Arafat.

He was assassinated that same year by an Israeli extremist opposed to the peace process.
