Munich
Isar River metropolis
Munich is the capital of Bavaria and Germany's third-largest city, known for its beer culture, Oktoberfest, and baroque architecture.
The city's name in German is München.
Historical references often invoke the 1938 Munich Agreement, where European powers appeased Hitler—making Munich shorthand for failed appeasement: We cannot have another Munich.
