Caspian Sea

Largest enclosed water

The Caspian Sea is the world's largest enclosed body of water, bordered by Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Azerbaijan.

Despite being called a sea, it has no outlet to the ocean—technically making it a lake.

Rich in oil and natural gas reserves, it has been a source of geopolitical tension among the surrounding nations.

The Caspian is also known for its sturgeon fisheries and caviar production.
