Media

Broadcast and print

Media is the plural of medium, referring to channels of mass communication—newspapers, television, radio, and the internet collectively: The media covered the scandal relentlessly.

Though technically plural, media often takes singular verbs: The media is biased.

Social media refers to platforms where users create and share content.

In other contexts, media can mean artistic materials (mixed media) or substances through which something passes (growth media for bacteria). (Capitalized Media is an ancient region of Persia.)
