Erie

Southernmost Great Lake

Erie names one of the Great Lakes—the fourth largest by surface area, the shallowest, and the southernmost.

It borders four U.S. states and Ontario.

Erie is also a city in northwestern Pennsylvania on the lake's shore, and the name of a Native American people who once lived in the region.

We drove up to Erie for the weekend. (Lowercase eerie means strange or unsettling.)
