Breaking is the act of causing something to separate into pieces, or the moment when something gives way.
It extends to violations (breaking the law), interruptions (breaking news), and transitions (breaking free, day is breaking).
In hip-hop culture, breaking is a style of acrobatic street dance, also called breakdancing.
