CDs is the plural of CD, compact disc—a plastic disc that stores digital audio or data read by laser.
Once the dominant format for music distribution, CDs have been largely displaced by streaming: I still have all my old CDs from high school.
The term also appears in finance for certificates of deposit, time-limited savings instruments: She put her inheritance in CDs. (Uppercase CDS refers to credit default swaps.)
