medium
Channel for transmission
Medium, which may have the plural media or mediums, means the thing in the middle.
An important sense arising from this is the idea of a channel or something serving as a conduit for transfer: The company used both broadcast and social media in the campaign. The reaction requires a porous medium.
A person may be called a medium if they have the purported ability to communicate with spiritual beings, thus providing a medium between the spiritual and physical realms.
Medium also indicates an intermediate size or degree between extremes, in both adjective and noun use: Do you take a medium or a large?
