hard drives
Digital filing cabinets
Hard drives are data storage devices in computers, using spinning magnetic disks to read and write information.
The term persists even as solid-state drives (with no moving parts) largely replace them.
Hard drive often serves as shorthand for any internal storage: My hard drive is almost full.
Also called hard disks.
