gramophone

Antique disc player

A gramophone is an early device for playing recorded sound, using a needle that traces grooves in a rotating disc.

The word is largely historical now, replaced by record player and turntable, though it survives in the Grammy Awards (short for Gramophone Awards) and in British English as an old-fashioned term for any phonograph.
