direct drive
Motor meets wheel
Direct drive describes a mechanical connection where a motor powers something without gears, belts, or other intermediary transmission.
A direct drive turntable spins the platter with the motor itself, eliminating the belt that can stretch or slip.
Direct drive washing machines attach the motor directly to the drum.
The arrangement reduces mechanical complexity and maintenance but may transmit more motor vibration.
