cueing

Giving the signal

Cueing is signaling or prompting someone or something to act.

A director cues actors to enter; a DJ cues up the next track.

In psychology, cueing refers to providing hints that trigger memory or behavior: Environmental cueing helps patients with dementia navigate daily routines.

The spelling cuing is also common.
