amplifier
Signal strength increaser
An amplifier is a device that increases the strength of a signal—most commonly an electronic component that boosts audio signals for speakers.
In music, amplifier often refers specifically to guitar amps: He plugged into a vintage tube amplifier.
More broadly, anything that intensifies or magnifies can be called an amplifier: Social media acts as an amplifier for outrage.
