stereo
Dual-speaker system
Stereo refers to sound that uses two or more channels to create spatial depth, as opposed to mono, which uses one.
Short for stereophonic.
A stereo is also the equipment that plays such sound: Turn down the stereo.
As an adjective, stereo describes this type of audio reproduction: stereo speakers, stereo sound.
The word comes from a Greek root meaning solid or three-dimensional, which also gives us stereotype.
