digital download
File from internet
A digital download is a file—music, video, software, books—transferred from the internet to a device.
The term distinguishes from physical media like CDs or DVDs: I bought the digital download instead of the vinyl.
It also contrasts with streaming, where content isn't saved locally.
Often shortened to just download.
