shin

Front leg bone

The shin is the front of the leg between the knee and ankle, or the bone (tibia) that runs along it.

This area is notably sensitive to impact—a kicked shin hurts disproportionately.

To shin up something is to climb it using arms and legs: He shinned up the drainpipe.

A shin of beef is a cut from the lower leg.
