shake
Rapid back-forth motion
Shake describes a motion, one-time or repeated, of quick, oscillating movement.
You can shake your head to indicate no, or you can shake from cold or fear.
People shake hands in greeting and to signal agreement.
To shake off something is to remove it by shaking, or to rid yourself of something unpleasant: I had to shake off any doubts I had.
A shake is an instance of shaking.
Or it might be a milkshake.
If you have the shakes, you are trembling from fear or some pathological condition.
