screenprint

Stencil-based ink transfer

Screenprint refers to a printing technique where ink is forced through a mesh screen onto a surface, with a stencil blocking areas that should remain unprinted.

The method produces bold, flat colors and is used for posters, T-shirts, and fine art.

As a verb, to screenprint is to create such an image: We screenprinted the band's logo onto fifty shirts.

Also called silk-screen or serigraphy.
