silkscreen

Mesh-based printmaking method

Silkscreen is a printing method where ink is pushed through a mesh stencil onto a surface below—originally silk, now typically synthetic.

The technique produces bold, flat colors and is used for posters, T-shirts, and fine art prints.

Andy Warhol's famous portraits were silkscreens.

As a verb, to silkscreen is to print using this method: We silkscreened the band's logo onto five hundred shirts.
