muralism
Large-scale wall art
Muralism is the art of painting large-scale works directly on walls or ceilings, particularly as a movement emphasizing public art with social or political themes.
The term is most associated with the Mexican muralists of the early twentieth century—Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros—who used monumental paintings to depict history, revolution, and working-class struggle.
The city commissioned several muralism projects to revitalize the neighborhood.
