yarn bombing

Cozy street art

Yarn bombing is a form of street art that covers public objects—lampposts, tree trunks, statues, railings—in colorful knitted or crocheted fabric.

Unlike spray-painted graffiti, it's temporary and easily removed.

The practice emerged in the early 2000s as a softer, more whimsical approach to reclaiming public spaces: Someone yarn bombed the bike racks outside city hall.
