miniature painting
Small-scale painted image
Miniature painting refers to two distinct traditions.
One is the art of detailed paintings on a very small scale—portraits, scenes, or decorative work executed on ivory, vellum, or metal, often small enough to fit in a locket or display case: She collected Victorian miniature paintings.
The other is the hobby of painting small figurines, typically for tabletop games like Warhammer: He spent the weekend miniature painting his new army.
