oil painting
Pigment-and-canvas creation
Oil painting is the art of painting with pigments mixed in oil, typically linseed oil.
The technique allows rich colors and subtle blending, dominating Western fine art since the Renaissance.
An oil painting is a work produced this way: The museum acquired a Dutch oil painting from the 1600s.
Informally, no oil painting means unattractive: He's no oil painting, but he's kind.
